The Book of God

At the end of each year, every sealed letter written that year is bound into a single book. The book is a list of fingerprints, joined two by two until one fingerprint remains: its root. That root is then timestamped on Bitcoin, where no one can change it or pretend it came later.

No letter is put on a blockchain, only the book's fingerprint. So a letter can still be withdrawn, and the book still proves that every letter in it existed, unchanged, by the day it was closed. Anyone can check their own letter on the verify page, and anyone can rebuild the whole book from the public archive and arrive at the same root.

Volumes

The first volume, 2026, will be closed after 31 December 2026.

Checking it yourself

1. Download a volume and its .ots file.
2. Open opentimestamps.org and drop both files in, or run ots verify 2026.json.ots. It names the Bitcoin block that holds the timestamp. (For the first few hours after a book is closed, the timestamp is still waiting for a block.)
3. To check the root, rebuild it from the leaves with the rule written in the file's how_to_check field.
